PHOENIX – Former Congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Salmon this week appeared on “Gun Freedom Radio.”
Salmon spoke with Cheryl Todd and Dan Todd about how he plans to fortify schools across the state, keep our kids safe, and protect our gun rights as the next governor of Arizona – including by fighting against red flag laws. They also discussed his longtime record defending the Second Amendment.

Matt Salmon On Fighting Against Gun-Control Laws:
“If [Joe] Biden is able to get something through the Congress that adds unconstitutional confiscation to the mix – or any unconstitutional measures on the Second Amendment – I will proudly proclaim as governor of Arizona, ‘That is not going to be enforced in Arizona,’ and I will fight them tooth and nail … To me, the Second Amendment is very clear. There is no room for interpretation … and so any of these proposed laws that infringe on our Second Amendment rights I will stand up and fight against – and that includes red flag laws.”
Matt Salmon On His Proven Record Defending The Second Amendment:
“What’s the best way to predict what a candidate is going to do? … Whatever their record is. What have they done in the past? … I’ve cast so many votes to protect the Second Amendment that I stopped counting. My opponents talk a good game, but there’s no proof that they will be what they say they are – because they’ve never, ever, ever cast a vote, never done anything publicly in any way, shape, or form. And it’s a risk.”
Matt Salmon On Fortifying Our Schools And Keeping Our Kids Safe:
“No parent should have to drop their kids off in the morning and wonder if they’re going to see them at the end of the day. I have nine grandchildren; eight of them live within a mile of me either way … If there was anybody that had a vested interest in this, it’s me … I would focus on the safety of the schools … One of the things that you and I talked about is the FASTER program … It basically empowers teachers to be able to protect children – and not just any teachers but people that are willing to go through the rigorous training that is necessary to become certified to be able to protect the children, both in first aid as well as weapons training and tactical training.”
