Phoenix – Former Congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Salmon today announced the endorsement of former Cochise County Board of Supervisors Chairman Leslie (‘Les’) Thompson.
“I am proud to have Les’ endorsement in my race for governor. He spent years as a county supervisor fighting for lower taxes, fewer regulations, and more local control so that Cochise County would not be burdened by broad dictates and unfunded mandates from Phoenix. He has deep knowledge of important policy issues facing the county, from agriculture to border security, and I look forward to learning more from him when I am governor,” said Salmon.
Thompson said, “I am confident that Matt Salmon is the best man to serve as Arizona’s next governor. His considerable experience with policymaking inside and outside of government will be an invaluable asset in solving the challenges ahead. Whether it’s fighting crime at the border or negotiating complex water-rights agreements, Cochise County will be in great hands with Matt in the driver’s seat. I am proud to endorse Matt Salmon and I urge all Republicans to cast their vote for him in the primary.”
