PHOENIX – Former Congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Salmon recently appeared on “Speak Out” (KNTR 106.3 FM).
Salmon spoke with Paul LaVoie and Sam Scarmardo about his plans as governor to secure Arizona’s water future and to expand educational opportunities through school choice. They also spoke about Katie Hobbs’ poll-driven campaign and her politically convenient reversal of her position on Title 42.

Matt Salmon On Why Katie Hobbs Is Hiding From Voters:
“I’m just really glad to know that Katie Hobbs knows how to read poll numbers. That’s exactly what’s driving this. She came out initially and she said that Title 42 was broken and we need to get rid of it … Katie Hobbs is vapid when it comes to any kind of policy … Katie is going to try to reinvent herself because she realizes that running as Bernie Sanders in a dress isn’t going to probably fly in Arizona.”
Matt Salmon On Expanding School Choice:
“We were one of the first states in the whole country to start charter schools … I want to also change the law in Arizona for funding to say that the tax dollars follow the child and the parents should decide the best school for their kid, whether it’s a private school, parochial school, homeschool, whatever … that’s the only way we’re going to change things.”
Matt Salmon On Securing Arizona’s Water Future:
“I think we’re going to have to use some of the surplus money that we’ve got at the state to help some of our farmers access some of these newer and better technologies so that they can more efficiently water their crops … You’ve got to have somebody with … a background and a knowledge of these kinds of things – because, if we make wrong decisions on water … it’s going to be very destructive to our economic future.”
